MORA Awarded for Excellence in Donation

June 27, 2018

MORA recently received an award from LifeNet Health for its support of its pediatric heart valve program. MORA provided 26 lifesaving heart valves to the many infants and children in need of cardiac grafts in 2017. For the tissue recovery organizations that work with LifeNet Health to provide hearts for valves, this was the most for any program in the United States in 2017. The award was given to the agency’s Tissue Recovery Team at a June staff meeting.
“LifeNet is pleased to offer this award as testimony to our commitment of your program; it’s mission of organ and tissue recovery and transplantation in your local community, and service to donor families,” said Debbie Floyd, a National Trainer for LifeNet Health. “We thank the MORA staff for its support of our collective mission, and to donors, their families, and transplant recipients everywhere.”
MORA CEO, Kevin Stump, added, “This award continues to reinforce the generosity of Mississippians when MORA and our partners work collaboratively to provide the opportunity to families to help others through organ and tissue donation. This award is for all of the families who made the decision to make a difference in other children’s lives.”
Based in Virginia Beach, VA, LifeNet Health is a non-profit that has specialized in regenerative medicine for more than 30 years and is the world’s largest provider of allograft bio-implants and organs for transplantation.
