The Mississippi Organ Recovery Agency (MORA) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to saving and improving lives through the gift of organ, eye, and tissue donation.
Federal law mandates that hospitals have policies in place to ensure every family facing the loss of a loved one is informed about the opportunity for organ, eye, and tissue donation. Across the country, 56 organ procurement organizations (OPOs) work within their designated service areas to fulfill this mission. MORA serves as the federally designated OPO for most of Mississippi, but its work goes far beyond compliance.
Available around the clock, MORA staff handle the complex process of matching recipients with donated organs. In moments of grief, a MORA representative is there to support families—answering questions, coordinating with transplant centers, and providing compassionate guidance every step of the way.
Beyond its role in organ procurement, MORA is committed to raising awareness about the importance of donation. The organization actively engages with communities across Mississippi—speaking at medical conferences, civic meetings, health fairs, schools, churches, and more. Free educational materials, including brochures and resources, are readily available to anyone interested in learning about the life-changing impact of organ donation.
