Did you know that there are currently more than 100,000 people waiting for an organ donation? Did you also know that an average of 13 people die each day while on the waiting list for an organ donation? MORA and Donate Life MS are working to raise awareness of the importance of organ, eye, and tissue donation. To do your part, please take advantage of the various options we’ve created to help supporters like you get the word out about donation!
Identify Yourself as an Organ Donor
Another way you can support our cause is simply to share with others that you are an organ, eye, and tissue donor. Let them know how and why you came to the decision to donate. We encourage everyone to engage in open conversation about donation and its benefits to our communities.
Get the Car Tag
We’ve got a Donate Life Mississippi specialty car tag. To support our public education efforts on donation, purchase your tag today.
- Order your plate with the county Tax Collector at the time you register your vehicle.
- Standard personalized plates like the Mississippi Organ Donor plate require an additional annual fee of $33. You can view the plate here.
Share our Social Media Posts
We need your help to reach those who may not already know about the lifesaving importance of donation. There are more than 1,000 children and adults in Mississippi alone (more than 100,000 nationwide) who are waiting for a lifesaving transplant. Thousands more will be healed by receiving donated tissue or have their sight restored by a cornea transplant. People who follow us on social media are already interested in supporting organ donation, but you might have a friend, family member or acquaintance who would be moved to choose donation simply by learning more.
Participate in Local and National Events
In observance of National Donate Life Month, MORA hosts the Racing for Donation Run+Walk in Jackson, Mississippi. We invite you to register for this annual event and explore more opportunities to raise awareness in your community and beyond.
Community Resources
For anyone who wants to help drive organ and tissue donation, we’re here to arm you with the resources and information you need to reach more people with the facts. We organize in-person events where we arrange for speakers, donor family members, and transplant recipients to share their powerful stories. Additionally, we have resources that speak to religious and multiethnic communities about the unique needs for organ donation within their communities.
