Job Opening: MORA Seeks Family Care Specialist

The Mississippi Organ Recovery Agency (MORA) is an innovative center of excellence that maximizes the gift of organ, eye and tissue donation. We are searching for a Family Care Specialist to work within the Southern Mississippi area as a vital member of the healthcare team providing care to families as they are grieving. The applicant should possess experience working with a hospital/medical center in nursing, counseling, bereavement care, ministry or social work.   Outstanding written, verbal and non-verbal communication with families and hospital staff is a must. This job requires regular on call responsibilities, frequent travel, and an excellent proficiency with medical personnel/hospital systems and protocols to ensure all donor potential is maximized. Drug testing and background check performed prior to hire.  Starting salary is based upon experience; great benefits offered. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures documentation is completed in accordance with MORA and regulatory standards.
  • Possesses strong decision-making capabilities and excellent communication skills.
  • Highly organized and resourceful, with excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Demonstrates discretion, maturity, and professionalism in all points of contact.
  • Works autonomously and takes decisive action in urgent situations to minimize adverse events that may negatively impact authorization,

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Preferred Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in an allied health field.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in counseling, bereavement care, ministry, or social work
  • Strong clinical assessment skills also preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to persist in situations dealing with intense emotions and families in crisis.
  • Excellent ability to communicate by demonstrated interpersonal and listening skills.
