Mississippi’s Organ and Tissue Registry Reaches 1.2 Million Registered Donors

February 22, 2024

The number of Mississippians who have registered to be organ and tissue donors has reached a milestone – 1.2 million donor registrations!

“Every day, our dedication is to save lives through the generous act of donation, and our collaborations on the donor registry significantly contribute to this impactful mission,” stated Kevin Stump, Chief Executive Officer of Mississippi Organ Recovery Agency (MORA). “While we are so grateful to the 1.2 million registered donors in our state, who one day may save the lives of eight people and impact many others, we must continue our work to educate Mississippians about why the need for more donors is so critically important.”

Donate Life Mississippi (DLMS) is a partnership formed by Mississippi Organ Recovery Agency (MORA), Mid-South Transplant Foundation (MSTF), Mississippi Lions Eye Bank (MLEB), Mississippi Department of Public Safety (DPS), and Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks (MDWFP) that is dedicated to promoting the need for organ, eye and tissue donation and encouraging everyone to register.

“We appreciate our collaboration with Donate Life Mississippi, which has heightened public awareness about the need for more people to register as organ and tissue donors and has inspired numerous people to register to save lives. We take pride in giving hope to the people in Mississippi who are waiting on a lifesaving transplant,” stated Treasure Tyson, Director of Driver Services with the Mississippi Department of Public Safety.
